First things first: We are here to take care of you, to make you comfortable and to make sure that you receive the kind of professional and informed care that you need.

You Chiropractor is a trained health care provider and a physician who is dedicated to finding the reason for your discomfort. He is also trained to know how to correct your problems but also to know when it is best to refer you to other physicians or health care providers if necessary.

The first visit is where your Chiropractor will find out, with your help, what is your problem. He will look at your questionaire and listen to the details of your complaint history. He will then do some "Tests". Not to worry, the test are design to be the least uncomfortable possible. From these, he will gather enough knowledge to make an informed judgement to start your clinical trial.

The examination will not take long and will then be followed by a corrective and fact finding treatment. This is called a short initial clinical trial and it is designed to reduced your complaint but also to give your Chiropractor additional information. Your clinical signs (bumps, dips, little muscle strings or balls, asymmetries etc) responses (reflexes, points of soreness, restrictions to movement etc) and reactions (changes or effects of the initial treatment) will progressively yield a more clear and complete picture of what the causes of your complaint are.

This initial treatment can include Chiropractic spinal [or other] manipulation, heat or cold, dry needle therapy, electrical stimulation (activation) of your muscles and deep rehabilitative muscle therapy. He will decide which are proper, where and how to do it so that it is the most beneficial package for you. Of course, your input is very important and he will listen to how you feel about each of his treatment strategies. Your comfort is also very important and hence, your consent is also essential.

In order to make your experience the most comfortable possible, we have a method of "combining" tests to reduce the challenge of stressing the structures that are givinig you a problem. Our combination of these can give us the information of 3 or 4 tests in one movement. This reduces the time that you have to spend being tested, but also the probability for uncomfortable events.

Here are the forms he will use for ascertaining what your condition is, and how to fix it:

Form one: Clinical Exam Form / Findings / Report of Findings / Treatment Plan (Form in detail here)

During your treatment he will ask you how you are responding to get a clinical picture of what is happening. Remember that all based on "details" or small hints of what is going on. Some of the problems and pain syndromes we deal with have very simple causes (muscle reflex contraction) and others are very complex (syndrome including herniations, tears, muscle reflex, chronic hypertonicity).

At the end of the treatment, you will be asked again how you feel, and later in the day, we will call you to follow up.

Your body will adjust to the treatment. You will react. Most of the time patients feel very relieved. Still, it is normal to feel sore after the treatment. Remember, we are trying to get rid of a problem and that takes and informed and precise effort. What your Chiropractor is doing may look easy, but remember, it is a skill based on science that has to be performed precisely.

Typical questions that patients ask:

  • Are my bones out of place and will he put them back where they belong?

    • Well, the fact is that your vertebra (bones) cannot be out of place unless there is some very major tissue tearing. The "bone out of place" explanation was done typically to make things easy for patients to relate to the treatment and was based on disproven theories. What your Chiropractor does is "loosen" "stuck" joints, mobilize them so that the reflexes and ahesions that keep them from moving as they should are loosened and the joint-nerve-muscle complex can function as it should. That does more than relieve you from pain; it also enables the joint to not "wear out" or to not be a part of a bigger problem.

  • It the traeatment safe?

    • Chiropractic treatment is very safe when you compare it with many kinds of treatments. We can safely say that Chiropractic treatment is far safer than taking pain madications, such as paracetamol or others. When performed by a trained professional, Chiroparctic treatment is one of the safest methods of treatment, with less risk and less negative side effects as compared to many other approaches. Keep in mind that other professions have grown out of what Chiropractic has accomplished, such as Manual Therapy, Naprapathy etc but Chiropractors remain the source experts of these branched efforts. If it was unsafe, other physicians would not refer to Chiropractors.

  • How us your approach different?

    • Our technique is a technique focused on reducing rotation of the neck and pressure on the "bones". With our technique we have been able to treat even people who have weak bones (osteoporosis) never having had an incidental fracture. This is because we don't use a lot of force to move the joint. We actually have the patients own movements assist us in moving the joints. With our method, you don't have to "relax" for us to do what we need to do: Your own reflexes, movements and yes, even your own tension helps us move your joints and relieve you.

    • We do place a very big emphasis on rehabilitation of muscle and joints by also therapeutically and changing the structure of the Joint-Nerve-Mucle complex, so we don't adjust only [although that is a major and very important part of our therapy] but we effectively complement with other modalities to ensure the effect of our treatment is maximized.

Form definition:

  • Complaint Intensity:

    • This is where you reveal how much pain you have, on a scale from 0-10 where 0 is no pain and 10 is unbearable pain.

  • Complaint Site-Type:

    • What is your complaint and where is it exactly?

  • Postural Structural

    • Curvatures, One hip higher, One leg short, Swayed back, Buffalo neck hump?

  • Range of Motion

    • How much can you move? Are you restricted and by how many degrees?

  • Procedural Diagnosis

    • This is a diagnosis used by the state. It helps with management and research and is not as exact as the clinical diagnosis we can gather.

  • Neurological Tests

    • Here we find out if your nerves are functioning as they should. Reflexes, sensations and muscle control

  • Orthopedic Tests

    • Specific joint, muscle and nerve function tests to find out specifically what is wrong with you

  • Additional Observations

    • Other situations the Kiropraktor can find, such as "bumps", tight spots, ropey muscles etc

  • Treatment Plan with initial Follow Up status

    • This is where he designs what to do to find out more (if necessary xrays or MRI etc) or about your reactions to the treatment, to make an effective treatment plan to get you back to fit function and out of your pain.
